Nationals Recovery

I played my first Australian nationals ultimate disc tournament over the Anzac day weekend. It was a great experience. I felt tired the first two days (as we had three games a day) but I think my body has held up quite well. The games were intense and frustrating at times. I was a late call up to the team and so enjoyed every minute of the 4 day weekend.

The first day was quite interesting, out of the three games, none were completely out of reach for us. The weather was great although slightly overcast. The conditions were fine and the play wasn't effect by the wind. The second day was terrible, raining very very heavily during the first match and so the outer fields became mud pools, (my jersey is still dirty after cleaning it 4 times). We won all our matches. The third and last day were perfect and sunny. The team lost both its matches on the Saturday and fell into a play off for 11th place (which we comfortably won) on the Sunday. Two days on my body is completely back to normal expect for a stitch sensation that is there.

By next year I want to improve my speed for the cuts and improve my throwing. I have a semi decent forehand but my backhand is either accurate and slow or haywire and slightly faster.

New purpose

This will be my nth time I have started blogging. I have no patience in writing entries when nothing important is happening with the world I live in and so I give up. I am writing this as a way to track my progress and to see how much I improve over the next four months fitness wise. The reason behind this is that I am going to be walking the 100km trail walk for oxfam in Sydney during the last weekend in august. If any of you are reading this that would like to donate to the cause and to my team in particular I will have something set up as soon as I find out myself.

My fitness level currently is at an average level to just above average for a person of my age- 23 years old. I play a team sport - ultimate disc or frisbee often enough to keep my fit and even with my terrible diet of fast food 4-5 times a week, I remain at the same weight. I am at the level in my game for frisbee that I really need to start thinking where I would like to take it, where I need to put in some hard yards over a few months and build up my speed and my legs such that I can run faster and jump higher. So this oxfam trail walking will help me get better.

Another Day to relax followed by VC

Yesterday was great sat and home and watched the superbowl. This has sorta become a tradition for me. I have watched it for the past 5 years i think. I just happen to stumble across it one year and after that I try to watch it every year. Its easier since I started uni as uni starts after it. The game itself was pretty good, although I still hate all the breaks of play and they have too many players per team. I love rugby union on that basis as its so free flowing. It is so fast the things that can happen.

Today is hot, I, thankfully didnt experience it as i was in a air conditioned room. It was my first day at Victor Chang, Bio Comptuing. It was interesting and I started a project, which should be quite enriching.

American Dad rocks, it is one of the best shows I have seen. The pilot was just aired yesterday. I hope it is not canned like Father of the Pride. These are two funny shows but alas the american public dont know whats funny.

Stress, Day Off and 21st's

Thursday was stressfull just slightly, I think I am more nervous and stressed now then I was on thursday because of two of my friends who instead of complimenting my work, went "Is that all?". Hmmmm. Ok From the beginning for people that dont know, I work at Minomic, well atleast for the last few weeks. I have created a little program there that does some good and so it was shown by supervisor at a Symposium/Conferrence this weekend. I am nervous now as I want to know how the response was to it. I got off work early on thursday ad went to chatswood in search of a phone. I found one that i really like but I needed my mum as she has my contract in her name annoying.

Friday was a laze about day which was kewl. That nite was a special dinner from one of my friends to his close friends. It was at QUAY restaurant. It had a great view and I loved my entree and main. Delicious food and well worth the price for those very special dinners. After Dinner we went walk about down to Town Hall and saw the film Closer. This is a great film which requires you to think. I love films like that, so enjoyable. Natalie Portman delivers another great performance, although I have to say that her character is the most developed. I felt that Jude Law's and Julia Roberts's characters were lackin in some areas, like what makes them tick. After the movie, we went in search of dessert, we ended up in DeliFrance. I had a Chocolate Crossiant and Iced Mocha. It was good at like 2 am. After the dessert we were refueled and ready to go. We went to a games parlor and played pool. Great fun esp. when all the people playing are great people. After pool, it was time to head home so we squeezed 6 people into a Honda Jazz. FUN FUN!! I went to sleep I think at about 5, 5:15.

Saturday was fun cos I was woken up by the V still in my system from last nite at 7. This is a great feeling. I felt tired all day, with only 2 hours sleep but I managed enough to get a new phone, NEC-N342i. Its a new phone with i-mode. No i dont think its a Mac thing. Its pretty good I cen send emails from my phone for 2.2 cents and sms to other imode phones for the same price. So all of you who are my friends get I-mode phones.

Saturday nite was Matt's 21st. It was a great party, different sort of 21st. More Australian, western where family and friends of the birthday boy were there. The Speeches were more planned and interesting therefore I thought. The food was nice and I got to meet new people which is always good.

Today was ok, comparitively, I did a tour with my tour partner for yellow shirts so I can be good at it. I also went to the beach after that to check out the location for next weeks party for charles. The beach was great and I think my stomach and back arent that white anymore ( which they arent cos im indian but they were quite pale when compared to my legs and arms.

Camp 2

After the pool, I quickly went to dinner, ate some food, we had a bbq with alot of meat. There was plenty left over. We went back to our dorms as a squad and started getting ready. I had a shower and a shvae, which was partly due to the fact that some of my squad memebers were complaining about my stuble. I got drawn over with red lipstick by a COFA ( college of fin arts) student, which is an experience. We had our warpaint (lipstick) on and we were off to trivia. IT was great we came about 4th I think out of 18 which is decent. The dancing afterwards was bad too much dance/trance crap and not enough songs that rock. The last five songs of the nite were the best- The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, and others.

After the dancing, which finished at 12:30, I sat in a big froup whihc was playing songs. Good rock songs. This lasted quite a while. I finally went to sleep at about 3-3:30.

Day 2
Day 2 started with me being woken at an early time of 7. I went to breakfast whihc was good, some hot food atleast ( spag on toast ). Then we found out our tour partners, which was great. Tour partners are normally from your Double Squad. I was partnered with Monica. She is a Med student studying med, should really find out something more or it seems strange that I am giving a tour with almost a compelte stranger :P.

The Training began, 2 hours of training then lunch then an hour break then another 2 hours of training followed by the OPSHOP ball which meant we had to dress for dinner aswell. The ball/dancing after the dinner was great. This was the first time I learnt how fun drinking games can be even if you arent drinking alcohol. I last year, I think I felt a bit intimidated but this year it was great and we played drinking games for about 2 hours I think. After that I did some dancing until 11:30, where I went back to the lodges to hang. I played a few games of mafia, then started playing 500 until 4 am. After that I walked around a bit saw some things which I shouldnt have seen and then slept.

Day 3
This day just few by, Breakfast was fun cos we were on cleean up duty but that wasnt that bad. After breakfast we had the Raider of the Lost Myuna whichw as good. We got to bond a bit more as a squad. After that it was lunch then it was time to leave. The bus ride home was very entertaining. We sang almost all the way home. The Pony song will prolly be the anthem of Oweek.

Ok now after camp, Monday was good it flew by again, work was ok. I watched all the tv shows I missed while away on camp which was good. Tuesday was much the same, cept I had to wait 50 mins for a bus. This is so annoying, the buses now are hardly ever on time and becuase of the changes at Chatwood means the bus is always late into their by 15 mins. This means I will now only catch the Wynyard bus and this bus comes 10 mins after the Chatswood bus. This bus is also late by 15 mins.
Why is this so? ANNOYING!!!

There is a weird pink lady on the bus in the mornings with me. She always crosses the road about 2m down from the T- junction which is weird.

Today was good, I found out Ill be a Student Researcher/Assistant at Victor Chang which is great. Hopefully I can keep it for the whole year. The Storms today were huge. We got some hail, possibly stil in our fridge, the size of golf balls.

I think this is long enough for the post.

Camp

Day 0 (weird how I always start these with day 0)
I had work but work was fun finished a bit early then had to wait 30 mins twice once at frenchs forest for a bus to the city then another 30 mins in the city for a 391. Got to Matt's place at about 5:30-6pm, I started panting my pants which were looking good, the only down side being that that was my whoel costume no top. Well I did have a headband on aswell. The whole american indian get up looked good. We continued to paint until it rained then we went inside and ate Matty's world famous spag bowl lasgne with white sauce. very simple yet quite nice. After that as I was out numbered 4 to 1, I had to sit through 2 hours of nip/tuck instead of watching the semi-final between safin and federer. I couldnt really get to sleep much, maybe cos of the heat + mosquitos + excitement, I dunno. I need to remember to bring a pillow for oweek with I stay over, I always forget.

Day1:
I some how got 3 hours sleep to wake up at about 6:30, stupid natural body clock. Had a shower and breakfast then it was time to get to Uni which was a convenient 3 mins walk. :D. We got to uni and saw all the shirts waiting there. It was great. I could see the excitement in their faces. We were on of the last squads to get on our bus and so we had to split up a bit but that was ok as I got to meet a few new people. Most of the trip their was spent talking and whiling about on the bus. Some how our bus driver was the slowest as I think we were the first bus to go and the last to arrive even with the fact that the third bus had to stop at Hornsby for a pick up.

We arrived at camp and almost immediately we had to start the training ( this was so we had more free time later on - which looking back was true). Training was ok, although waiting until 1:30-2 for lunch was a bit tough on my stomach. Lunch was good and definately didnt have the special ingredient of CAMP in it which almost all camp food does. "Your eating a bit of CAMP with every bite". After Friday's training we found our rooms, I was dorming with Dave H, Matt O, and Danny. Straight away we went into the pool, and started exactly like last year a game of waterpolo/netball. Last year it was pasties Vs whities, this year it was Girls Vs Boys with some boys who had mysteriously changed sex in about 5 mins. :P

Thats all for now maybe some more later tonite.
