Nationals Recovery

I played my first Australian nationals ultimate disc tournament over the Anzac day weekend. It was a great experience. I felt tired the first two days (as we had three games a day) but I think my body has held up quite well. The games were intense and frustrating at times. I was a late call up to the team and so enjoyed every minute of the 4 day weekend.

The first day was quite interesting, out of the three games, none were completely out of reach for us. The weather was great although slightly overcast. The conditions were fine and the play wasn't effect by the wind. The second day was terrible, raining very very heavily during the first match and so the outer fields became mud pools, (my jersey is still dirty after cleaning it 4 times). We won all our matches. The third and last day were perfect and sunny. The team lost both its matches on the Saturday and fell into a play off for 11th place (which we comfortably won) on the Sunday. Two days on my body is completely back to normal expect for a stitch sensation that is there.

By next year I want to improve my speed for the cuts and improve my throwing. I have a semi decent forehand but my backhand is either accurate and slow or haywire and slightly faster.

New purpose

This will be my nth time I have started blogging. I have no patience in writing entries when nothing important is happening with the world I live in and so I give up. I am writing this as a way to track my progress and to see how much I improve over the next four months fitness wise. The reason behind this is that I am going to be walking the 100km trail walk for oxfam in Sydney during the last weekend in august. If any of you are reading this that would like to donate to the cause and to my team in particular I will have something set up as soon as I find out myself.

My fitness level currently is at an average level to just above average for a person of my age- 23 years old. I play a team sport - ultimate disc or frisbee often enough to keep my fit and even with my terrible diet of fast food 4-5 times a week, I remain at the same weight. I am at the level in my game for frisbee that I really need to start thinking where I would like to take it, where I need to put in some hard yards over a few months and build up my speed and my legs such that I can run faster and jump higher. So this oxfam trail walking will help me get better.
